Vision of Wallkill’s 7th Annual Weekend of Wallkill (WOW) on September 23 and 24 will be a family-friendly festival to celebrate the Shawangunk community and welcome all Hudson Valley neighbors to the turning of the season. Evoking a “magical” tone to this festival, the two days of WOW will showcase creative displays and neighborly competition in various games and contests.
Join us on Thursday, September 8 6:30pm as we continue our discussions about upcoming events for our community. If you can't make monthly meetings, maybe you want to help at one of our events. We warmly welcome new members and new ideas and would love to meet you. We meet in the Community Room at the Shawangunk Town Hall, 14 Central Avenue, Wallkill. If you would like to join us call/text (845) 527-6230 or for any questions.
If you are an art and photography enthusiast, come and participate in the Plein Air art event at Lippincott Manor. You will be surrounded with the captivating views of the Shawangunk Mountains, the Wallkill River and the property’s gardens. You can choose whatever subject inspires you, and capture it with your easel or camera on hand.
Vision of Wallkill together with the Wallkill High School’s Senior Celebration Committee will host their inaugural Duck Derby On the Wallkill River on Saturday, May 14th 3:00pm. This fun tournament helps to benefit Wallkill’s senior class while celebrating their outstanding achievements. Nearly two-thousand yellow rubber ducks will be launched off the Riverwalk dock at Popp Park, coloring the Wallkill River yellow as each contend to cross the finish line. The fastest duck will be awarded a $500 cash prize, while the second and third runner-ups will receive $250 and $150, respectively. The “Lame Duck” prize is far from being left behind, receiving five entry ducks at next year’s race. The Senior Celebration Committee will begin ticket sales at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 20th. Anyone wishing to volunteer for the event (expert kayakers highly requested) or need more information may contact Julie (Vision of Wallkill) at (845) 325-2329, and Erin (Senior Celebration Committee) at (845) 591-5472.
